Summer Reading Recommendations and Activities
Updated: May 22
Reading is one of the best ways to continue building vocabulary, comprehension, writing skills, creativity, and critical thinking throughout the summer months. This space will be used to share optional summer reading recommendations for students who would like to continue exploring new books and genres over break.
Books shared throughout the summer may include a variety of genres, reading levels, historical topics, and high-interest selections connected to themes we have discussed throughout the school year.
Along with suggested books, students may also find:
review games and reading activities
discussion posts and book conversations
comprehension and vocabulary practice
extension activities and creative challenges
optional enrichment resources connected to featured books
Students are encouraged to:
✨ share favorite books and recommendations
✨ participate in discussions and activities
✨ explore new genres and authors
✨ engage with reading in a fun, low-pressure way throughout the summer
Remember — summer reading does not need to feel overwhelming or academic to be meaningful. Even small amounts of consistent reading can make a huge difference in maintaining and strengthening literacy skills over time.
